It is a fact that August 2014 will have 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. According to my very clever former school friend, now a retired head teacher, this happens only every 823 years ! Is that really true ?
This is another of her fascinating claims. If true it speaks volumes about our European bureaucrats:
If there was still a shred of doubt the world is totally insane, this should remove it; only Divine intervention can now restore us to sanity !

Your "teacher" friend evidently doesn't know much about the calendar, and fell for an Internet hoax.
Any 31-day month will have 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays when it starts on Friday. This happens almost every year, not once every 823 years.
Previous occurrences were in March 2013, July 2011, and January and October 2010.
The last time it happened in August was 2008, and before that 2003 and 1997, and the next instance will be in 2025.
I find this so interesting.
I love anything to do with dates or numbers, I can't usually work it out myself (lol) but I love it when we are told of these things.
Fascinating.
