Moose Incident - Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada

The strange things that happen in today's World. Truth is stranger than fiction !

Without the picture, this would be very hard to believe. Read under the picture.

They were laying new power cables which were strung on the ground for miles. The moose are rutting right now and very agitated. He was thrashing around and got his antlers stuck in the cables.

When the men (miles away) began pulling the lines up with their big equipment, the moose went up with them. They noticed excess tension in the lines and went searching for the problem. He was still alive when they lowered him to the ground. He was a huge 60 inch bull and slightly peeved!

With thanks to my good friend Barry Brenham, who lives in Ontario, for sharing this amazing picture with us.

Love & Sorrow with the Sparrows

I know this is anthropomorphic but nonetheless I liked it and hope you do as well

Here a female mate is injured and the condition is soon fatal. She was hit by a car as she swooped low across the road.

Here he brought her food and attended to her with love and compassion.

He brought her food again but was shocked to find her dead.

He tried to move her ... a rarely-seen effort for swallows! Aware that his sweetheart is dead and will never come back to him again, He cries with adoring love.

He stood beside her, saddened by her death.

Finally aware she would never return to him, he stood beside her body with sadness and sorrow.

Millions of people cried after seeing these photos in America, Europe, Australia, and even India. The photographer sold these pictures for a nominal fee to the most famous newspaper in France. All copies of that edition were sold out on the day these pictures were published.

And many people think animals don't have brains or feelings? You have just witnessed Love and Sorrow felt by God's creatures. The Bible says God knows when a sparrow falls & how much more He cares for us. Matthew 10:29 & 6:26

THE BIG FREEZE

With the current ice and snow causing chaos in the United Kingdom I thought these couple of pictures might help to lighten the moment for some of you. Why does Great Britain grind to a halt everytime there is a heavy snowfall. How do the Scandinavian countries manage so well? Anyway, soon I will be taking my winter sunshine break in the Canary Islands and cannot wait to escape this bitterly cold weather, airport flights permitting that is!

Do not waste food!

Watch out for the slippery one!

Take care but do have fun with the snowballs!

WATER MELONS & EGGS IN ART FORM

A friend e-mailed these pictures to me and I was so impressed with the talent of the craftsmen or craftswomen who created the specimens that I just had to share them with you. The first two are of hand carved water melons. The other two are of egg shells carved into artistic form by use of a laser beam. Brilliant skill and considering that we are still developing laser technology one can only imagine what great advances can be achieved in many other avenues especially in medical science.

Transparent Butterfly

It comes from Central America and is found from Mexico to Panama. It is quite common in its zone, but it is not easy to find because of its transparent wings, which is a natural camouflage mechanism. A butterfly with transparent wings is rare and beautiful.

As delicate as finely blown glass, the presence of this rare tropical gem is used by rain forest ecologists as an indication of high habitat quality and its demise alerts them of ecological change.

Rivalling the refined beauty of a stained glass window, the translucent wings of the Glasswing butterfly shimmer in the sunlight like polished panes of turquoise, orange, green, and red.

All things beautiful do not have to be full of colour to be noticed: In life that which is unnoticed has the most power!

These beautiful pictures reminded me of that immortal quotation by Mahatma Gandhi in 1934; "I need no other inspiration than Nature's. She has never failed me yet. She mystifies me, bewilders me, sends me into ecstasies. Besides God's handiwork, does not man's fade into insignificance?"

FIRE RAINBOW

THIS IS A FIRE RAINBOW - THE RAREST OF ALL NATURALLY OCCURRING ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA.

THE PICTURE WAS CAPTURED 31ST MARCH 2008 ON THE IDAHO/WASHINGTON BORDER.

THE EVENT LASTED ABOUT 1 HOUR.

CLOUDS HAVE TO BE CIRRUS, AT LEAST TWENTY THOUSAND FEET IN THE AIR, WITH JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF ICE CRYSTALS AND THE SUN HAS TO HIT THE CLOUDS AT PRECISELY 58 DEGREES.

My grateful thanks to Jim Doney for sending me this beautiful sight.

Music of the Night

Further to my posting of the 17th. July concerning my attendance at the Music of the Night performance at the Royal Citadel in Plymouth. I have managed to acquire a short video clip of various numbers featured in the show and have embedded it at the bottom of my posting. I also provide it here for speed of reference. A short video clip cannot possibly do justice to such a magnificent show but it certainly gives an excellent flavour of what the audience were privileged to see and hear. Make sure your speakers are turned on!

A Puppy Bouquet to brighten up your day!

I have no idea of the identity of this very skilful and talented flower arranger but I was sent these wonderful pictures over the internet and believe they deserve a wider audience assuming they are not copyright protected. If I establish they are subject of copyright I will of course immediately remove them from this blog. I hope you agree they are delightful pictures and appreciate them as much as I do.
